That is John for sure and it’s from a photo of him taken during the Rubber Soul sessions and he's holding his J-160 E.
What I did was traced his outline and created a cutout of the silhouette. I placed it in the 3D scene with a spotlight in front of it to get the shadow.

Looks like a shadow of George. Probably playing the second Gretsch Country Gentleman. From the hair style it woud appear to be early 1965 to mid 1966.
